Lemon Verbena & Chamomile Bath & Shower Gel
This fragrant and refreshing bath and shower gel is easy to make. Because it is made with olive-based castile soap, it won't dry out skin. The addition of agar powder acts as a natural emulsifyer and brings the ingredients together without resorting to gelatin (aka animal skeleton).
Ingredients
1 cup filtered water
2 tablespoons organic chamomile flowers
2 tablespoons organic lemon verbena
5 tablespoons liquid castile soap
2 tablespoons vegetable glycerin
2 teaspoons witch hazel extract
10 drops lemon verbena essential oil
1 teaspoon agar powder
Directions
Bring the water to the boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and toss in the herbs. Cover and let steep for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, combine the glycerin, witch hazel and lemon verbena oil in small bowl and set aside.
Strain the herb mixture; reserve the liquid and discard herb material. Add the castile soap and stir. Add the glycerin mixture to the herb andsoap mixture. Slowly stir in gelatin until completely dissolved. Let the finished product cool completely, then pour into a clean bottle and label.
