Lavender Ugly Soap

Ugly soap is the affectionate term for herbal soap balls fashioned by hand while the soap mixture is still warm and soft. For those of you who'd rather keep your hands clean (pun alert!), you can make two bars or round cakes of soap instead.

Ingredients

2 glycerin soap bars (3.5 oz each), grated
1 tablespoon anhydrous lanolin
1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
2 tablespoon ground oatmeal
1 tablespoon powdered lavender
1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers
10 drops lavender essential oil
Oil for hands

Directions

Combine the grated soap, lanolin and almond in the top of a double boiler and gently heat over a low-medium flame until softened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients. With oiled hands and while the soap mixture is still warm, roll into balls about 3-4 inches in diameter. Cool completely on wax paper. If you wish, you can make two round or square bars of soap with this recipe instead of soap balls.
