Herbal Expectorant Tea

Thyme contains a number of antimicrobial compounds with antioxidant properties, such as p-coumaric acid, rosmarinic acid, eugenol, kaempferol and thymol. The latter is a common ingredient in cough syrups, which lends support to the traditional use of thyme to counter cough and congestion. Combined with mullein and aniseed, thyme helps to thin mucous and relax airways, making this tea ideal for ideal for a dry, unproductive cough.

8 tablespoons organic dried thyme leaf
3 tablespoons organic dried mullein leaf
2 tablespoons organic aniseed, lightly crushed

Combine all ingredients in a glass jar or tin with a tight-fitting lid. To prepare, steep 1 teaspoon of tea in 1 cup of hot wter for 5 to 10 minutes. Drink 3 to 4 cups of tea throughout the day.
