Calendula & Aloe Facial Cleansing Cream
Calendula, also known as pot marigold, received its name from the word "calendar" in recognition of the plant's tendency to go into bloom on a monthly basis, often at the new moon.
The herb contains several agents that are beneficial to skin including a type of allantoin called calendulin and various anti-inflammatory phytochemicals, such as beta-carotene, isoquercitrin and rutin. Collectively, these compounds also stimulate collagen production and enhance cell renewal.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon beeswax
¼ cup sweet almond oil
1 tablespoon organic calendula extract
2 tablespoons pure aloe vera gel
Contents of 2 vitamin E capsules
Directions
Gently heat beeswax and oil together in the top of a double boiler, stirring often until wax melts. In a second pan, heat the calendula extract and aloe vera gel just until warmed through. Pour the calendula-aloe mixture into the wax-oil mixture, using a whisk to combine. Continue mixing until the formula becomes thick and smooth. Add the vitamin E and blend once more. Scoop the skin cream into a clean glass jar with lid. Use within one month.
